The following are a list of nurseries that landowners or groups undertaking planting may like to contact. Note that the list is not comprehensive, and landowners may wish to contact alternative nurseries while planning their planting or purchasing plants.
Plants come in a range of sizes/grades and prices, and we encourage landowners to discuss the benefits of each with their preferred nursery.
Nurseries in the Waikato region
Nurseries outside of the Waikato region (but still available for Waikato region service)
Spraying and chemical use
Some projects may require pre-planting weed control and spot spraying, and post-planting chemical releasing and/or weed control.
Whether undertaking this yourself or engaging a contractor or nursery to undertake this work it is important to ensure that good practice is followed, and all legislation and regulations are complied with.
Some spray operations, depending on scale, location, chemical being used or application methods, may require one or more of the following, including but not limited to:
- notification
- spray plan
- records to be kept
- resource consent
- training and certification, such as Registered Chemical Applicator (RCA) certification.
Training and certification requirements depend on what agrichemicals you use, how you apply them and what your role is. A list of Growsafe Registered Chemical Applicators can also be found in the RCA Register, but be sure to also check registration status with your contractor.
